Where will you report?

Choose your duty location first, then compare homes against the gate, transit connection and schedule you will actually use.

01 / Marine Corps

Quantico

Compare Dumfries, Potomac Shores, Woodbridge and Stafford against your actual work location.

Explore Quantico

02 / Army

Fort Belvoir

Balance Route 1 access, your assigned gate and housing choices across Northern Virginia.

03 / National Capital Region

The Pentagon

Weigh transit, parking and door-to-door cost before deciding how far from work to live.

A purposeful virtual tour

Plan a live walkthrough that covers layout, storage, stairs, parking and visible condition, not just the flattering angles. Access and timing require owner approval.

Renting from a distance

Verify the property, authorized representative, lease and payment instructions before sending funds. Arrange a written move-in condition report. Video is helpful, not a guarantee.

Your real commute

Compare gate access, shift times, tolls and parking. Test routes at your likely travel hour. No one-size-fits-all commute promise.

Nationwide origins · local perspective

Coming from somewhere else?

Whether you are moving from Fort Hood, Camp Lejeune, San Diego, Germany, Japan or Korea, start with the same essentials: destination, dates, budget and a verified housing plan.

Jon lives in Potomac Shores, Dumfries. That local perspective can help you compare the area without assuming it is the right fit for every DC assignment. Fort Belvoir and Quantico are not interchangeable with Pentagon, Dahlgren, JBAB or Andrews commutes.

Guides for additional destinations and origin-to-DC moves are planned. Virginia property services only; DC and Maryland needs require appropriately licensed representation.

Rights. Budget. A plan.

Know your lease rights

Virginia and federal law provide qualifying military termination rights. A military clause should explain, never narrow, those protections. Review orders, notice and timing with legal assistance.

Compare the full cost

Rent is only the beginning. Budget for utilities, required fees, insurance, parking and the commute. Your duty location, not your home address, normally determines BAH.

Buying with a VA loan?

Eligibility and lender qualification matter. VA purchase loans require intended owner occupancy. No down payment does not mean no closing costs.
